The Kick
Butt and Lunge workout is a great workout concentrating on the lower
body, especially the glutes, hips and thighs. Kick Butt and Lunge
is different from any other exercise class I have taken, and I have
taken so many! The Power Poles in the Kick Butt and Lunge help me
focus on lunging and kicking while providing the opportunity to improve
strength, stability and balance. Plus, I get a cardio workout at
the same time!
The Power Poles also allow
you to work at your own level, from beginning to advanced fitness
levels. I started out at a
very advanced fitness level, so, I was worried that the Kick
Butt and Lunge workout wouldn’t be challenging enough for
me. I was WRONG! In fact, I get better workouts with
the Kick Butt and Lunge and the Power Poles in just three days
a week than five or six days a week with my old exercise routine.
Still, I have to admit that I was quite skeptical, at first.
For
years, I worked out five to six days a week. I participated in
everything from aerobic type of classes to strength training mixed
up with various other forms of cardiovascular exercise (i.e. treadmill,
bike, elliptical trainer, etc.) I also cross trained by swimming
and power walking. I certainly couldn’t workout
any more and I couldn’t imagine working out any less! Despite
all of this exercise and watching what I ate, I always struggled
to lose each and every pound. Although I was strong and fit, it
was discouraging. I resigned myself to simply enjoying the
health benefits of exercise and hopefully fighting my family history
of heart disease and osteoporosis.
One other issue concerned me. For
the past three years, I had a knee problem. I didn’t
know if I could do this workout because it involved a lot of lunging.
Surprisingly, I was able to walk up stairs without pain after two
weeks of the Kick Butt and Lunge class. I even went back to playing
tennis, which I had quit for three years! Not even months
of physical therapy and daily knee exercises had been as helpful
as the Kick Butt and Lunge class!
In addition, people are now complimenting
me on my appearance! I
can’t tell you how happy that makes me feel.
